Spirit Sisters - Love - Week 5 Day 3

Where do we look for love?

Spouse...Friends...Family...Chruch...Money...Career...Power...Control...

Where do we find love?

Only one answer is possible here - - God.

Where do we go from here?

Let's look at some scripture. I've chosen these verses specifically because they speak of God's love for us.

Zephaniah 3:17 God is always with us, protecting us, rejoicing with us, exalting us, loving us. (There's a whole sermon just in this one verse!)

Jeremiah 31:3 His love is always there for us (it is everlasting). He has always been, always is, and always will be faithful to His beloved (us).

Psalm 13:5-6 God's love is steadfast, it does not change.

John 15:9 Jesus wants us to wrap ourselves in the same love He receives from the Father.

Romans 8:38-39 Paul understood and wants us to understand that absolutely NOTHING can separate us from God's love.

When Jesus said, "Love each other, as I have loved you," (John 15:12) He was referring to the ultimate act of forgiveness. Jesus went to the cross because He was 'head-over-heals' in love with us. He couldn't bear the thought of separation from us. So how do we express that love to those around us? We are not required to get on the cross. That was done 'once, for all'. We are to make the conscious choice of forgetting ourselves and making the needs of others our top priority. Read the Gospels and you'll find that Jesus showed His love for us by making it all about us. What a different world this would be if we reflected His love in the same way.
